Harriet Quimby was born in 1875.

She was the first woman to also fly over the English Channel. It is said that Harriet Quimby wore a purple flying suit. After only 11 months of having her flying license Harriet Quimby was killed in a flight demonstration in Massachusetts on July 1, 1912.
